I'm looking for 12–15 testers to join the Google Play Closed Test for Guard2 — a passive device-monitoring app. It runs for 14 days. No daily tasks — just install it, keep it running, and tell me if anything breaks.

You don't need to be technical. Guard2 doesn't ask testers to understand any complex technology. You only need to do 5 simple things — and most days it takes just 1–3 minutes.

What you'll do

Five simple steps. Guard2 is designed to be tested through these everyday actions — that's the whole point of the test.

Join the Google Play Closed Test

Email me to get added to the closed test list. You'll need a Google Play account.

Install Guard2

Once you're on the list, install Guard2 from Google Play on your Android device.

Complete the permissions setup

On first launch, Guard2 will guide you through a permissions screen. Grant the requested permissions so monitoring can run reliably in the background:

  • Notifications — required to keep the foreground service running
  • Schedule exact alarms — ensures heartbeats fire on time
  • Follow any on-screen prompts to finish the setup

Fill in the form & tap START

On the home screen, enter your device nickname and 1–3 recipient email addresses, then tap the START button. That's it — monitoring begins.

Keep the app running

Guard2 runs in the background and sends a heartbeat every 20 minutes. Just leave it running — no need to interact with it daily.

Occasionally simulate real scenarios

From time to time, try these everyday actions so the app gets exercised:

  • Turn off the network (Wi-Fi / mobile data)
  • Lock the screen
  • Unlock the screen
  • Restart the phone
  • Power the phone off for a few hours (to test the "no records" gap detection)
  • Tap STOP to stop monitoring
  • Purchase the 30-day plan
  • Request a refund

Check the results

  • Watch the status bar at the top of the home screen — it shows the current phase: Ready, Starting…, Working, Stopping…, Ended
  • Open the in-app Heartbeat Log page to see the detailed records
  • Check the emails you receive — monitoring started, heartbeat alert, unlock alert, heartbeat recovered, unlock recovered, monitoring stopped
  • After install: a 7-day trial is granted
  • After purchase: the expiry date increases by 30 days
  • After refund: the expiry date decreases by 30 days

Fix issues via Custom ROM Settings

If the Heartbeat Log shows failures or "no records" gaps, tap the Custom ROM Settings button to open the device-specific background/permission guide, then follow it to grant the missing permissions and keep Guard2 running reliably.

Guard2 itself is tested through your normal phone behavior. There's nothing extra to learn.
